About the event
We're hosting a night out to experience Douriean Fletcher: Jewelry of the Afrofuture — the exhibit behind the jewelry and costumes from Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, shown alongside the ancient Egyptian and Ethiopian pieces that first inspired the artist.
This is a self-paced walkthrough, not a guided tour. You'll be there with the small group of people who picked your same time slot, so explore together, split up and find each other later, whatever feels natural. Think of it like a museum day with a few friends. When the museum closes, we'll all walk over to the Buttonwood together for a Social Hour to keep the connections going.
What's Included
Entry into Jewelry of the Afrofuture at The Walters (already free, no ticket needed for the exhibit itself)
Light bites for the group at Buttonwood to sample the menu
Conversation starters once everyone's settled in to talk about the exhibit, Black Panther and the Marvel universe, or just get to know each other
The Agenda
6:00 / 6:30 / 7:00 PM: Check in at The Walters and meet up with the BLYSS group at your reserved time slot. Make your way through Jewelry of the Afrofuture at your own pace.
7:50 PM(ish): As the museum closes for the night, we'll connect you with a few people we think you'd like to meet so you can walk to the Buttonwood together.
8:00 – 9:00 PM: Social Hour at the Buttonwood. Light bites for the group and conversation starters to get things going. Additional food and beverages available for purchase.
9:00 PM +: The Buttonwood's open till 10. Stay if the conversation's still going.
How It Works
Pick your meet up time (6:00, 6:30, or 7:00 PM) and commit to it.
Two days before the event, you'll get an email with more details about how to meet up with the group.
Show up on time, and we'll take it from there.
Every ticket includes the same night: the exhibit, the group, and the Social Hour at the Buttonwood, light bites included. The only difference is what time you start.
